Reliance General Insurance has announced a rise of 113% in new business during 2007-08, which is almost 10 times the industry growth till February. The company has added around Rs 1,000 crore to its premium income, with its premium book growing to Rs 1,946 crore for the year 2007-08 against Rs 912 crore last year. During 2007-08, the company set up over 115 new branches and tripled its manpower from around 1,000 to over 3,000 besides increasing its penetration from 80 cities to nearly 200 cities. Motor and health insurance record fastest growth for the company.
